Ethics: "you have to..."
It's all very well to declare ourselves "Non Hindusite" and chase away these superstitions to take refuge in reason. But we must be consistent and recognize that after this grand gesture, we are naked.
At best, let's start with the notion of "well-being", which everyone will accept, and which undoubtedly points towards that of "the pursuit of happiness". But let's face it, that doesn't get us very far and brings us dangerously close to the basic Western religion known as "consumerism".
The first picture: Back to back: the God-fearing fool and the Consumerist.
Now we need to dig deeper and clarify our compasses.
To this end, I propose a gentle, scholarly introduction by Luc Ferry.
He paints a picture from Ulysses to modernity, recycling many of the books he would have written into a highly digestible 5-episode podcast.
We'll concentrate on one of them: " Private life, public life: the two humanisms or the political consequences of the love revolution ", which can be found here.
For those with a sweet tooth, don't hesitate to listen to the other 4 episodes.
This is part of an ambitious program I am pursuing, having resumed my studies in Ethics, etc. I'll be distilling a few clarified findings for you, like the butter in the sacrifices...
