Vinyasa Flow

Dynamic yoga...

In this class, the movements follow on from each other in a fluid manner: a series of postures, which follow on from each other in a sequence (flow). There is a breath for each movement. This combination of breath and movement enables the senses to be abstracted, a particular form of self-presence.

Course of a class

The sequence of postures (Asanas) seeks to integrate 2 simultaneous qualities:

  • firmness/stability,

  • well-being/letting go.

This type of class is a modern version of Patabi Jois' Ashtanga Yoga, more rigid and codified.

Basic

  • Learn the basics of vinyasa, chained asana in movement.

  • Build the foundations to achieve the sequences: a breath, a pose.

  • Breaking down the asanas over longer periods and more extensive explanations.

    class protocol:

  • Salutation to the sun

  • Learning basic postures and building sequences/flows

    • The postures added to a Vinyasa are initially held for 5 breaths to allow them to be incorporated. Then repeat the flow.

  • Relaxation

  • Sun salutation and variations

  • Learning basic postures, building ladder-flow sequences (adding a posture to each vinyasa).
