Postural Yoga
Meticulous, powerful and sensational yoga
(3 levels)
Meticulous, powerful and sensational yoga.
class consists of a sequence of postures held from 30sec to 2min.
Assimilated to "Hatha Yoga", freely inspired by the Iyengar style, this style aims to balance
On the one hand, strength, flexibility and aesthetic postures
On the other, sensations and the effect on the state of being
Assimilated means that we do not claim to be part of this rather sulphurous lineage, nor do we participate in the veneration of "well-being" as usually propagated in the yoga zone...
Course of a class
Seated posture and a greeting
Floor & standing postures:
standing postures are safe and provide the strength needed for other postures.
floor postures are designed to strengthen muscles (abdominal, back, arms, etc.) or increase maximum joint strength (flexibility).
Inversion sequence.
Closing
And a return to the sitting posture for the final "greeting".
Monthly themes
According to the Iyengar tradition in our country, 4 themes follow one another in loops:
Month 1: Standing postures
Month 2: Forward bending and/or twisting
Month 3: Bow
Month 4 : Pranyama (or breathing...)
These 4 themes allow us to cover a wide variety of subjects and postures, and not restrict ourselves to one family of postures.
In our experience (and in terms of class and personal practice), you can spend a lot of time on this cycle without exhausting it...
And to ensure everyone's interest, we add new features for regular participants and basic information for beginners.
We assess the level of difficulty of class and try to adapt it to the participants present (although we have no reliable way of checking this...).
It's an art, in that sense...
Basic
For people who have never done yoga before
For those who prefer a more gentle session to get back into shape.
Basic instructions are taught for some fifteen postures.
Level 1&2
No more postures,
Numerous detailed instructions for each posture.
The main concern is to avoid overloading the back in flexion, pinching the lower back in an arch, or the knees in an arch.
A gradual ramp-up method is proposed for those who want to improve their postures first and foremost.
Level 3
Technical sessions
The aim is to work on a few postures around a theme: bowing ability or shoulder work.
Exercises are linked together, some postures in twos or threes, with accessories, and participants share the results of their experimentation.
The session ends with a short sequence that uses what was detailed in the first part.
Sensational Session
The postures and instructions are assumed to be known and you are able to make each posture "interesting" for yourself. They are held longer (usually 2x as long) and more advanced postures are added...
Sessions are quieter (less or no instructions) and more meditative. The aim here is less technical than"sensational", i.e. a greater impact on the state of being.
In particular, inversions are mastered (postures on the head (Tripods - Sirsasana) & on the shoulders (Candle - Sarvangasana)).
Vinyasa Flow
Dynamic yoga
(2 levels)
Dynamic yoga...
In this class, the movements follow on from each other in a fluid manner: a series of postures, which follow on from each other in a sequence (flow). There is a breath for each movement. This combination of breath and movement enables the senses to be abstracted, a particular form of self-presence.
Course of a class
The sequence of postures (Asanas) seeks to integrate 2 simultaneous qualities:
firmness/stability,
well-being/letting go.
This type of class is a modern version of Patabi Jois' Ashtanga Yoga, more rigid and codified.
Basic
Learn the basics of vinyasa, chained asana in movement.
Build the foundations to achieve the sequences: a breath, a pose.
Breaking down the asanas over longer periods and more extensive explanations.
class protocol:
Salutation to the sun
Learning basic postures and building sequences/flows
The postures added to a Vinyasa are initially held for 5 breaths to allow them to be incorporated. Then repeat the flow.
Relaxation
Level 1
This level allows you to practice one movement/one breath in sequence.
Suitable for those who follow class vinyasa basics comfortably.
class protocol:
Sun salutation and variations
Learning basic postures, building ladder-flow sequences (adding a posture to each vinyasa).
Work on more advanced postures
Relaxation
Vinyasa Flow & Animal walks
Fluid, intense yoga
(2 levels)
Fluid, intense yoga
Flow
The complete form is made up of some thirty postures...
It can be performed in the following ways
On the slow rhythm of deep breathing: requiring all the more power to control movements
At a fast pace for cardiovascular exercise
In any case, this style powerfully develops muscular strength and physical stamina, and is also great fun.
... quite gymnastic...
More for people who are physically fit and interested in intensity and aesthetics (dance type).
Classical class is a good preparation and you can always ask us to find out if this style is right for you...
Level 1
Level of difficulty similar to class Vinyasa Flow Niv1.
Postures are linked together in a gentle flow, with particular emphasis on deep muscular training of the lower limbs and abdominal muscles.
In particular, to prepare for Power:

Abdominal strap power
Work on ankle flexibility, hip opening and leg stretching.
In addition, exploration through the addition of certain repeated Kundalini Yoga postures (twists in synchronization with breathing, for example).
Structure
Sun salutations (classic in Vinyasa/ Ashtanga Yoga)
First 2 Power yoga sequences
Relaxation
Level 2
Warm-up for animal walks: movement exercises, jumps and floor exercises to build muscle strength for Flow.
At the heart of the session is an intense Flow of 26 postures.
Finally, posture-by-posture corrections or specific exercises for each individual.
For the Animal Walks variation
