Who's it for?
Type 1: You follow class on the Internet or in a renowned studio but would like to receive a complement to improve your practice and perhaps take a step further with a little human feedback.
2nd type: Some people don't feel (or are) "not suitable to follow a class normal.
My aim is to give them, in a few special class sessions, the adaptations to the postures and/or the interest to go beyond this idea: any posture can and must be performed in coherence with each person's condition.
After a few special class sessions, if everything goes well, I'll suggest you join a class normal, as soon as I'm convinced that you've integrated the simplifications, use of accessories and precautions.
3rd type: Back problemsespecially if "sciatica" / "herniated disc" pain
This type of problem must be taken seriously, and you should not come to class without first seeing me at class .
Yoga in this case is unlikely to be "good for your health"!
See the page on this subject: Back
4th type: postural problems various, e.g. "asymmetry with symptoms": global work aimed at transforming part or all of your "architecture".
Frame :
In case of health problems, two important things to note :
I am not, nor do I claim to be, a therapist: you must first have consulted doctors, physiotherapists, etc. and brought back their recommendations/diagnoses to me (this will serve as a basis for progress and choice of postures).
It's up to you to assess the beneficial effects on your body, and to initiate a personal investigation to improve your condition. I'm convinced that, in many cases, postures can be beneficial.
Techniques
The yoga I was taught (Iyengar) is very detailed and analytical, and Mr Iyengar himself was involved in the care of all kinds of problems, leaving us with many variations on postures and body mobilization. I took part in therapeutic classes with my teacher Willy Bok for 3 years.
Myofascia massage technique by T. Myers (see Anatomy Trains) and other inspirations (Jules Mitchel - Yoga Biomechanics, Postural Transformation, ...)
I'll work with you to combine
elements of postures, passive stretching inspired by the "bone, muscle" technique of yoga with
gentle elements of manipulation/muscle massage/muscle wraps, etc.
on the basis of a diagram we'll draw up based on your overall posture and the symptoms you're experiencing

Rehabilitation aid for back sufferers
For back sufferers
Proposal
Take into account the particularities of your situation (type of back pain, medical history, etc.)
Put different postures and adaptations within your reach and evaluate their effects
Define a work protocol (correction of habits, exercises, class yoga, ...)
Prepare your introduction at class if appropriate
My personal situation
I suffered for a long time and ended up returning to my first youth after an accident (Herniated Disc Expulsion Descending with paralysis of the flexor of the foot).
I have recovered perfectly, thank you.
From this journey where I searched and wandered a lot (and learned a lot), I remember that
For someone suffering from back pain, it's often difficult to get a clear idea of the treatment (doctor, physiotherapist, osteopath, surgeon, kinesiologist, etc.) or even the cause. Don't despair at this lack of clarity...
a multi-dimensional approach is required: exercise of the body (recommendations and precautions regarding yoga postures), recommendations outside class, development of proprioception and interoception, etc.
an appropriation of the "treatment": through your particularities, I will guide you in a scheme of hypotheses and prosperoitions of taking in hand: this work is a work where your feedback from session to session is esseential...
My "training
Self-taught, follower of the Stuart Mc Gill (see Waterloo's Dr. Spine, Stuart McGill) and/or Mc Kenzie approach and, for 3 years, assistant in the therapeutic class of Willy Bok, Brussels' most intensive Iyengar teacher and former physiotherapist. Training in myofascial treatments by Tom Myers.
My credo
Back problems are multi-factorial and can involve postural elements, muscular coordination, daily habits...
Let's add that the re-education/transformation of these elements probably takes place over periods of 1 month, 1 year with a minimum of assiduity. And so, prolonging this or these particular class with a public class is one of the optoins that will make it possible to play over time...
On the other hand, simple modifications to your activity regime can have major effects: this has happened to several people who have consulted me.
Each person is unique...
Yoga, by default, engages in a transformation of the body, and has a few more chances than physiotherapy exercises of settling permanently into everyone's life.
We will therefore define together a "diagnosis" or hypothesis to be tested (your feedback is crucial) & the exercises (and adaptations) aimed at changing your situation.
Please note that this in no way means that you shouldn't consult a doctor, then a physiotherapist: quite the contrary.
Rehabilitation assistance
I am not a therapist and would like to be put in touch with your physiotherapist or doctor or osteopath to follow these recommendations and discuss them if possible.
Protocol
For people out of crisis: special monitoring and insistence on incorporating protective measures
1 or more class
Optional: postural treatment (see here)
For people in crisis (at class - 2 to 4) - according to Stuart McGill's protocol:
2 to 6 class
Verification of diagnosis and protocol development
Several "provocative" tests
Application of pain-free stabilization exercises (Positive Slope of Progress)
Strengthening (stabilization program) and then learning to simplify the postures required to reach a class public area.
Optional: performance restoration for practitioners of the body (athletes, manual trades or aficionados).
Postural Transformation
For exceptional people
Transform your posture, to correct certain deviations that you find problematic, seek a more elegant posture, ...
A method combining proprioception exercises, specific body exercises & myofascial massages...
Global practice
This technique considers the whole body, including the way you feel your posture (proprioception) and engage movement (Neuromotor Control & Perception).
First step... Postural Analysis
Postural analysis is the first step in the application of musculo-fascial massage techniques, enabling me to define an interpretation of your posture. This interpretation will guide the treatment.
My aim is to add these corrective techniques to postural yoga.
However, even without these techniques, reading your body should enable you to highlight the parts to be worked on by the yoga postures. It can therefore serve as a practical guide.
Example applied to "jeune fille en arc" - video in English by my master Tom Myers.

Techniques
Yoga postures allow many variations on postures and body mobilization.
Proprioception exercises target the Motor Control level, which is closely linked to the way we engage body actions.
